This is the story of the Ellis family - starting in the 1700s in Deritend, Birmingham, then traveling to the new colonies, before returning full circle to Birmingham in the 1800s. Along the way we encounter the question - who was responsible for the building of Sorrento in Birmingham? Sadly the building in Wake Green Road no longer exists and the origins of Sorrento have been uncertain, but this family history offers intriguing new information. The Ellis family all contributed to the development of their beloved Birmingham in one way or another and most of them found their resting place there. It has been a privilege to walk in their footsteps and I hope after reading this book you will feel the same.
