Beskrivelse

A Guide to Happiness starts with a short story titled, "The Shaolin Priest and the Tiger" that is set in ancient China at the original Shaolin Temple. We follow the life of a young monk as he passes the trials set before him by the Shaolin grand master - trials which are everything from enjoyable and illuminating to death-defying (think Buddha meets Indiana Jones). The second half of the book, "The Mechanics of Consciousness," is written in a fast-read style with a small amount of words on each page. It gives you bite-size lessons and techniques that are deceptively simple, but extremely powerful. Here are some testimonials for the short story from friends and business associates who were kind enough to read through a rough draft and let me know I was on the right track. Thanks to all of you for inspiring me to continue "OUTSTANDING I really enjoyed it "

D.P., Web Engineer "WHAT A BOOK It is light, but like a good Tai Chi move, there is great weight to it"

R.W., Sr. Software Architect "Richard Phillips has written a book that is exquisitely simple and enormously profound. The Shaolin Priest and The Tiger is an engaging, quick read that leaves you with that "ah-hah" feeling. This book reads like flowing water and it filled me with a sense of remembering my own wisdom. Read this book and you will awaken to your own strength and power in the world."

C.K., RN "Not your average self help book. Richard Phillips unlocks the door to practical, ancient teachings, which can be easily applied to everyday living. An interesting and novel approach to self-help."

J.R., Martial Arts Instructor "The story elegantly reveals basic truths with brazen simplicity. Set in an ancient time, insight comes with clean delivery. Read it slowly - it will change you."

S.L., Chiropractor "This is a wonderful story written by Richard Phillips, one which moved me very much and often returns with soothing reflection for overcoming life's difficulties. It lends considerable insight into the notion of acquired discipline and how this is one of life's journeys, the inner journey, which is often elusive and mystical in our western culture. There are parts of his story that often return to me when I'm contemplating current issues which require focus and inner strength to move forward, so in this sense his book is an inspiration. I recommend it highly and found it to be a joy to read "

H.W., Executive Search Consultant "I have read a number of self help books and none have been able to master the theme of walking with one's fear as Richard Phillips has in his book "The Shaolin Priest and The Tiger." I urge you to read this manuscript; it will be a wonderful inspiration for your life."

C.N., MD "Richard Phillips uses a metaphorical journey of a Shaolin priest to illustrate timeless fundamental spiritual principles. The story engages the reader and brings life to ancient wisdom. Good for all ages to enjoy--an engaging reminder of simple truths."

M.K., Human Resources Director If this sounds interesting to you, give it a try. Hope you enjoy it
