Mostly True Border Patrol War Stories
Jack Danielson is a young man hired by the United States Border Patrol as a Border Patrol agent. Danielson after successfully graduating from the Border Patrol Academy returns to his home station in Yuma, Arizona. At the Yuma Border Patrol Station Danielson learns that he will be assigned to work with journeyman Border Patrol Agents who will teach him how to conduct himself and perform the duties for which he was hired.
He soon learns that the journeyman agents are a little rough around the edges and though not trained instructors, are not at all shy about pointing out Danielson’s shortcomings. Danielson realizes that the Academy educated him concerning immigration law and formal Spanish but now knows that the core duties and responsibilities are learn as you go.
Some journeyman agents though hard working and highly experienced sometimes work in a grey area others would say is unorthodox or slightly unethical. Each journeyman agent attempts to impress upon him the proper way they believe the job should be done and Danielson must perform those duties without risking violation of his probationary status and personal safety. Danielson works his way through his probationary period to the level of journeyman agent for himself.
He now finds work as a journeyman Border Patrol agent comes with added duties, higher responsibility for himself as well as the well-being and safety of others. He is now assigned to perform unfamiliar duties and with equipment he has not been trained with. He considers this is all part of the job until he finds himself faced with a real life and death situation no Border Patrol agent or law enforcement officer should ever have to deal with.
