If you think that this manual is about coaching Judo, that's only part of the story. The United States Judo Association Coaching Education Program is for people who want to maximize their impact in the lives of others through the medium of education. It's really not just about Judo. The principles and ideas presented in this series of manuals are applicable to any venue of training, but we draw our examples from the world of Judo, where the maxim is to obtain maximum benefit from the efficient use of effort. You can take these manuals and find context within your own world. As those of you who are already martial artists know, training in the martial arts leads to technical prowess, an associated development of grace and an economy of movement. With continued dedication to the process of learning come increasing levels of power. With power comes responsibility.the greater the power, the greater the responsibility. Power is therefore something that should be used for the benefit of all. With power come deeper levels of compassion and caring. Consequently, true power always leads to higher states of being and the recognition that power flows through us rather than being used by us.
