Beskrivelse

STARMAN tells the story of two worlds. Nine-year old Charlie Baker from Manchester. A young boy obsessed with the stars and the Moon. And Yuri Gagarin, who on Wednesday 12th April 1961, became the first man in Space. Charlie's and Yuri's worlds become inextricably linked when the Russian cosmonaut tours England, only three months since travelling around the Earth. Theirs' is a short meeting, before they return to separate lives. Charlie's, a life under Northern Mancunian Stars, a gentle existence, whilst for Yuri, the Kremlin's insistence that he never be allowed to fly again, because of his importance as a symbol of Soviet power, breaking his heart inside. Also, underlying the entire story of Starman, what did Yuri Gagarin witness during his short time above the heavens? Why were powerful men in the Russian Politburo panic stricken? To the point where one in particular ensured Yuri, when it appeared set to happen, would never be allowed to walk on the Moon. So, the story unfolds. A tall tale of our dreams to conquer the stars. Hopefully, it remains a realistic possibility that the man in the Moon is not just a child's fable. But he is indeed Starman
