The Navarre region of northern Spain is the birthplace of the "Pachón Navarro" hunting dog breed. The Pachón Navarro is a type of pointer that originates in Navarre, Spain. It's a rare breed that stands out for its exceptional pointing and hunting skills, especially when it comes to pursuing birds. These canines stand out from the pack thanks to their dense, muscular bodies and brachycephalic (short-nosed) heads with noticeable "double nose" that include nostrils divided by a septum. Their one-of-a-kind appearance is the product of generations of breeding for specific hunting abilities.
Partridge and quail are two of the most common game birds pursued with a Pachón Navarró. Birds are easy targets for hunters because of their expert ability to spot and point out flying creatures. Despite their high value as hunters, trained and socialized dogs of this breed can make devoted pets.
Pachón Navarro dogs are not as common or well-known as other types of hunting dogs, hence they are classified as a rare breed. Nonetheless, it has been adored by hunters and dog lovers for centuries in Spain for its distinctive appearance and exceptional hunting abilities.
