Grace D. Li’s "Portrait of a Thief" is a fast-paced mix of a spectacular heist, friendship and the value of culture.
Will Chen is a Chinese American who studies art history at Harvard. He is deeply convinced that the West has stolen important art that belongs to China, and that it should be in its creator’s homeland. When a Chinese corporation offers the chance to reclaim five unique sculptures he accepts, even though he has to use illegal methods. Will hires a crew of fellow students with different talents and a complex relation to China and art. If they succeed they will earn millions of dollars and a chance to change history. If they don’t they will lose all of their bright future.
