This collection of poems by Anna Laetitia Barbauld includes some of her most powerful and deeply-felt verses. Many of the poems address themes of social justice and political reform, and reflect Barbauld's commitment to the abolitionist cause. The book also contains a stirring epistle addressed to the anti-slavery campaigner William Wilberforce, in which Barbauld urges him to continue his fight against injustice. This is an important work by one of the most talented and influential poets of the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
