The Iron Curtain is about to fall. Will it mean war, or peace? A young conscript in the German Armed Forces is going to find that out, and soon.When 18-year-old Hartmut Schober gets drafted into the Bundeswehr, the German Armed Forces, the year is 1989, and it's the final peak of the Cold War. Military training is never easy, but as George Washington said, to be prepared for war is one of the most effective means of preserving peace - and the Bundeswehr is determined to preserve peace. As Schober soon finds out, those means include harsh drills with cruel drill instructors, huge and dangerous NATO exercises, as well as funny encounters with the US soldiers, and even Darth Vader's storm troopers invading a suburb of Cologne.
