This is a time travel story set in the Second Punic War. Imagine yourself suddenly and unexpectedly transported into another time, where you don't know anyone, you don't really know the language and not only that, there's a war going on. To add to the confusion you don't know how you got there, or if you'll ever make it back again to your own time. You have one thing going for you and one thing only, a knowledge of history.
First then find a way to survive and secondly find a way to thrive. Rather than face these challenges alone the story teller finds a friend in the young Publius Cornelius Scipio, the man who will one day call himself Africanus, after avenging the deaths of his father and uncle and defeating the famous Carthaginian general Hannibal. Thus effectively making the Roman city state which dominates Italy at the start of the story into a true empire and superpower. Judge for yourself what is fact and what is fiction.
