Beskrivelse
I can't recall a time when I did not have a bike. I still get a thrill from those first turns of the pedals as I head out into a world of endless possibilities. This is a love story. It is about moving and being moved, about the forward motion, propelled only by my legs. It is about the joys of riding a bike.
I have tried almost every type of bike riding, all to varying degrees of average. No amount of mediocrity can diminish my love for all things cycling, from the thrill of a time-trial PB or just feeling the sun on my bones and the quiet pleasure of a long ride completed. I love cycling solitude and camaraderie in equal measure.
The stories in this book are about my life on a bike, about biting off more than I can chew, about my sporting endeavours and those of others. It is also about some of the most memorable days that I have lucky enough to enjoy on my bike, like the Fred Whitton, the Majorca 312 and London-Edinburgh-London. Some of these have been life changing days. We who travel have stories to tell.
