Beskrivelse
James Monroe (1758-1831) was the last President from the Founding generation. A United States Senator, Ambassador to both France and Great Britain, and a Governor of Virginia, Monroe later served as Secretary of State and Secretary of War under President Madison. Monroe was elected to the Presidency in 1817. This work brings together the eight State of the Union Addresses which President Monroe delivered to Congress between 1817 and 1824.
