Traditional Cornish wrestling originated in the county of Cornwall, situated in the southwestern region of England. Empirical evidence indicates that it has existed since at least the fifth century.
Cornish wrestling participants don a specialized outer garment called a "guernsey" or "jacket," which they grasp in an attempt to hurl their adversary. The aim is to dispose of the opponent by throwing them to the ground, wherein points are allocated for a range of accurate throws.
