Sasebo has developed rapidly with the modernization of Japan in the late 1900s. This is the 4th title of Sasebo-born photographer Osamu Matsuo published through the "Sasebo Project" launched in 2007. The aim of this project is to acknowledge the charm of the town from a journalistic perspective, rather than from a photographic one. The theme of this 4th release is "17-year-old Sasebo teenagers in 2017." There are 79 portraits of 17-year-old teenagers in this title, lingering on the streets of the town where the tangled alleys of a hilly city are unique and compelling. They are today's youngsters, of course, but the photographer has been able to capture a timeless look with the effects of nostalgic black-and-white.
