    1. Beskrivelse

This novel is an original telling of the times between 1865 and 1872 - known as: THE LOWRIE WAR, which made a hero - a Legend. The story will take you back to those dark days of white supremacy and class-struggle of the Rich versus the Poor. It was a time, following the end of the Civil War when crafty racists began to enact "Jim Crow Laws.." . To save his family, and the poor farmers of Robeson County, North Carolina from starving to death during the winter of 1865, Henry Berry Lowrie led a band of brothers who robbed plantations and distributed the food and stolen goods to the local poor. After his father, brother, cousins, and friends were murdered by the North Carolina Home Guard, Henry Berry declared war on wealthy conservative whites and the bounty hunters they employed who wanted him dead. Henry Berry was loved by persons of color and hated by the wealthy and powerful. He was arrested on his wedding day, but no jail could hold him. The final bounty on his head was EIGHT TIMES the reward collected for the killing of Jesse James Henry Berry was a dedicated father who always kept his word. He was a man full of mischief. Rhoda Strong, Henry Berry's beautiful wife, was known as the "Queen of Scuffletown" (today's Pembroke, N.C.). She was a strong, outspoken woman. Wanted Dead: The Legend of Henry Berry Lowrie is an action-packed narration of the exploits of this extraordinarily brave man and his small band of brothers. A most remarkable tale that is based upon actual documented historical events. But don't peek at the ending, because this outlaw's story ends like no other.
