The Two Faces of Islam

Islam has presented two contrary faces to the outside world. The face presented to us when Islam is attempting to gain influence and converts is one of peace and mercy. The face we are shown when Islam is in control or is seeking to punish those who refuse to submit to its demands is one of threats, violence and hatred. Both faces are clearly presented and advocated in the Quran and exemplified in the attitudes and practices of Muhammad.
