The Reason Why...

This is a powerful story of success, written by a woman who, as a girl, joined her sharecropper family in the cottonfields of Mississippi and quickly learned about racism. She experienced changes in education as the Band-aid of integration made its weak attempt to overcome discrimination of African-Americans and later fled to the northwest where she endured an abusive marriage and continued discrimination in the work world. The light of her life began with the birth of her son, Carlos, a special needs child that requires her full attention and care.
