The Pea Picker and the Outhouse Murder

D'Andre Martin, a 13 year old black boy, witnesses a horrific crime, the rape and murder of a 13 year old white girl named Autumn. He believes he would be suspect if he were to report it, so he keeps his secret. This is the story of the heavy consequences that decision brings not only for D'Andre but for his family and the family of Autumn. This story takes place over 30 years. It is fast paced and the characters are sympathetic. We watch as they unravel under the burden of knowing for D'Andre and not knowing for the rest of those close to both victims: D'Andre and Autumn. Autumn's father, a police officer, is an early suspect, that absent a better one, is never really cleared. A chance meeting 30 years later resurrects this case.
