Age he has received to the critics in general for their favourable notice of his productions; and more especially to those acknow ledged masters of thought and language who have given him such kind assurances of encouragement and esteem. He started out in the literary world with a faint hope that he should not be altogether disregarded; but he is constrained to admit, that the reception he has met with has exceeded his most sanguine eitpectations.
