The old woman used to be known as "Great Mother of the Land," but now she is just a failing old woman in a world gone mad. A loving, determined woman, she fights courageously for justice and for her beliefs after everything has been ripped away from her. She might just give up and succumb to the pain and terror inflicted by Red-Eyes, the evil party man designated to watch her and make sure she suffers as much as possible. But ten years ago, the old woman received the gift of a baby-the offspring of her son and his wife who were thrown in jail as enemies of the class. Now the grandmother and the girl live in poverty and eke out a meager existence deep in the mountains. Danger and heartache are always present. "The Inn with Two Doors" not only tells the heartbreaking tale of the grandmother and the girl, but also describes the pitfalls of a totalitarian government.
