Watson published a set of experiments2 in 1909 showing a linear relation between pressure and critical intensity for the case of continuous voltage. His range of pressure was from 36. To 76 cm. In the earlier papers of this series numerous curves were given showing a linear relation between critical intensity and pressure from 38 to 100 cm. The conductors used ranged in diameter from to cm. Some experiments were also made showing a linear relation between critical intensity and temper ature. Only one size of conductor was used; The range of temperature was from 8 to 41 deg. Cent.
