The Gift of Life

As a child, Edward Pompeian was stricken with a mysterious, debilitating illness that threatened his life for years. Not expected to make it past sixteen, Edward and his family made numerous trips to doctors and hospitals in search of answers. Thanks to the loving support of his family and friends, and an unshakable faith in God's plan, he was able to endure. At the world-famous Mayo Clinic a diagnosis was made, and Edward received a lifesaving kidney from his mother. Inspired by his own incredible transplant journey, Edward founded the Gift of Life Transplant House in Rochester, Minnesota. There, caregivers receive emotional and logistical support in what is a difficult and stressful time. In The Gift of Life Edward shares his own story of pain and hope, as well as the stories of those whose lives have been touched by the thousands of dedicated staff and volunteers who have made the Gift of Life Transplant House a success.
