The Experience of the Supernatural: Aspects of the African Philosophy of Religion seeks to examine some of the key issues and contents of religion in traditional and modern Africa from a philosophical perspective. The book is divided into two sections: The first section provides a philosophical analysis of key topical issues in indigenous/traditional religion such as reincarnation, predestination, eschatological beliefs and religious experience. The second section pays attention to key issues that have evolved in religion in modern Africa such as fundamentalism, religious tolerance, cultural transformation, nation building and religious dialogue. Thus, the book presents in a single volume, important issues in African philosophy of religion as experienced both in traditional African communities and in modern African societies. The goal of this book is to enlighten the reader on the peculiarities of religion in Africa, an enlightenment that is much needed for the attainment of peaceful co-existence and harmony in the African continent and the world at large.
