Excerpt from The Annual of the British School at Athens: Index to Nos. I. XVI
In the transliteration of proper names I have followed, as far as possible, the guidance of the more recent volumes of the Annual. I have not, however, aimed at complete consistency, but have merely... tried to make uniform in every case the various spellings Of any given word, employed by each contributor.
I wish to acknowledge here the ready assistance of many friends, especially of Miss C. A. Hutton, who, besides undertaking the writing of the bulk of the slips for Volumes I. - V., has most materially lightened for me the task of seeing the work through the Press, and has given me the benefit of her experience on countless points. Mr. M. N. Tod most kindly read thevi preface.
