Forlagets beskrivelse
Excerpt from The American Journal of Psychology, 1893, Vol. 6

Fechner's principle of the aesthetic threshold Vorschule, IV.) takes into consideration not only the intensity of a pres entation, but the degree of receptivity and of attention to it in the subject. It is, to wit, a general law holding not only for feelings of pleasure and pain, but also for them, that in order that they should come to consciousness, a certain degree of that upon which the inwardly and outwardly depend is requisite. Any presentation unaccompanied by pain or pleasure, but which needs only an increase of one or other of the above elements to awaken it, he speaks of as in the direction of pain or pleasure.
