Excerpt from Roll of Service in the Great War, 1914-1919
We have now in our Entrance Hall a bronze tablet containing the names 'of those who gave their lives in the War, but we have not as yet a complete Roll of Service to' supplement it. It is hoped to have one engrossed in ... the near future, and it is mainly on that account that this printed list is sent out with the accompanying Memoir, in order that any errors may be rectified and omissions supplied. You are urgently requested to go over the list carefully, and to send any criticisms (preferably in writing) to Miss N. Spence, 24 Dowling Apts., Toronto. The names of the military units will probably not appear on the engrossed Roll of Service, but they are added here for the sake of identification and general information. 'the names of the fallen are marked by an asterisk.
