Excerpt from Overseas, Vol. 3: The Monthly Journal of the Overseas Club and the Patriotic League of Britons Overseas; August, 1918
Anada enters upon the fifth year of the War as resolute and determined as ever to fight on until victory is achieved.
We appreciate to t... he full the courage and devotion of the people of the British Isles and the unparalleled sacrifices they have made in a great and noble cause. Victory for Germany would mean the death-knell of our hopes and ambitions as free Democracies and would jeopardise the future welfare of our humanity such a result we cannot and will not accept.
His Majesty's Fleet has driven the German battleships and Mercantile Marine from the high seas and is keeping the ocean clear for Allied traffic. In the air the Allies are supreme. We look forward with confidence to the day when, with the assistance of the soldiers of the United States, the Allies will march through victory to a just and lasting peace.
