Excerpt from Official Basket Ball Rules: As Adopted by the Amateur Athletic Union and the Young Men's Christian Association Athletic League of North America; 1906-7
The past season was very popular. There was no regular city league organized, but the Athletic Club had a club ... league that proved quite a success. It was named the Color Series, with four teams, the Reds, Blues, Whites and Yellows.
The following series of games were hotly contested, playing two games a night, and resulting in a victory for the Blues, they winning four games out of the six.
