Bill met Evelyn at a time he was least expecting to find her. He was the bass player for a popular band, had a bottomless trust fund, and had just received his letter of acceptance to Harvard. Being young, handsome, rich, and living next to Hollywood had been the perfect opportunity to date some of the most glamorous and beautiful women on the planet. Yet none of them had ever affected him the way Evelyn had from the first moment he saw her. Evelyn was not searching for love, and in fact had been avoiding it as if it were a hobby. She was a freshman in college and was a gifted actress with the lead role in a school production. She was a soloist for the school choir, and had just been offered the lead role in a major Hollywood movie production. She didn't have time or interest for romance, until she met Bill. The attraction was instantaneous for each of them, yet Evelyn was reluctant at first, choosing to build walls to protect herself rather than give in to the feelings she felt for him from the moment she saw him. Bill had never felt this way before, she consumed his every thought and no matter what obstacles she tossed up, he willed himself to overcome them all. What neither of them expected was the level of hostility their parents would show towards their blossoming romance as dire measures were taken that would have permanent consequences. Inspired by a true story, the novel is set in and around Santa Monica, California, in the early 1960's. With the backdrop of Hollywood, the music industry and local community college, the story intertwines education, religion, the arts, family contentions, and the potency of an inviolable love. The story is humorous at times and tragic in others as it follows the young couple through the twists and turns of a forbidden romance. Their love carries them against all odds, and it seems for a time they have endured it all, but can their love save them from a final crisis?
