Excerpt from Leberecht Hühnchen
The notes aim to give all the information necessary for an intelligent understanding of the text. The questions at the end of each little chapter are intended for the student. They cover all the important points in a given chapter. They not onl... y give the student a means of testing his knowledge of the facts of a chapter, but in many cases also involve exercises in accidence and syntax. The llbungen are intended to be sug gestive and do not pretend to cover everything in German grammar. They take up those things which in the editor's experience need most drill, including exercises in building up a working vocabulary. The vocabulary contains not only the words of the text but also most of those employed in the notes and llbunqcn.
