Excerpt from Latin America: Its History and Culture
Not attempt to name all of them here, but we must mention some who have been especially helpful. Dr. Max L. Basemann has given advice on Portuguese pronunciation. Dr. Sidney E. Ekblaw has made useful suggestions on Latin Ame... rican geography. Mr. Clarence Senior has assisted with the section on Indian civilization at the time of the Conquest. Dr. Ella P. Levett has helped with the maps and illustrations. Many experienced teachers have contributed practical advice. Various publishers have kindly permitted us to use the quota tions that appear in the narrative. But we must assume respon sibility for both the defects and the merits of the volume. We hope it may prove interesting and useful as well as accurate. The fact that the senior author's name appears first on the title page should not be accorded much significance. The junior author has done more than his share of the work.
