Excerpt from Great Truths Simply Told: For Young Learners in Christian Teachings and Young Readers of Bible Words
Nathaniel Hawthorne finely says, Children possess an unestimated sensibility to whatever is deep and high, in imagination or feeling, so long as it is simple like... wise.
The manual consists of five parts. Each consecutive division contains, in fact though-not in form, a review of what has been already taught that the pupil may have line and precept, both here and there.
Part I. Consists of Topical Lessons, pertaining to God, and our relations and duties to Him, and to one another.
In Part II. The aim is to group such incidents in the life of Jesus Christ, and such of His teachings adapted to the young, as will give some connected idea of His person and work, and not merely the story of His life.
The Lessons in these two parts are followed by ques tions, which it is believed, from the use already made of them, thoroughly test the pupil's apprehension of the truth explained.
