In this sequel to Ghosts and Gold, Jack Martin builds his veterinary clinic, and becomes embroiled in a smuggling scheme and murder. After his friend Johnny White Feather is found dead, Jack finds the link between the murder and the smuggling. Deputies from Nevada and Arizona aid the FBI in breaking the case. With the case closed, Jack and fiance Taylor are married, then honeymoon in Hawaii. When they return to Virginia City, Taylor has a surprise for Jack. R. W. Lang is retired and lives in Mesquite, Nevada. He has visited most of the cities in this book, and as of this date has not encountered a ghost or been involved in a murder.
