Jennifer has always had a close relationship with her aunt Abbigale. Besides bearing a striking resemblance to each other, they are both dreamers, and they believe in the power of true love. When Abby presents Jenny with an extravagant gift-her house-Jenny is overjoyed. Only later does she find out that, after transferring ownership of her property, Abby suddenly vanished.

A curious bookstore in town and the haunting words of an elderly neighbor add to the brewing mystery. In spite of her confusion and hesitation, Jenny is glad that the encounters result in new friendships. She won't admit it to herself, but she's lonely, carrying on conversations with her car and her beloved teddy bear.
