Set in Santa Cruz, California; San Remo, Italy; Paris, France; and a fictional town called Pottersville, North Carolina from the 1950s through the 1980s, Claiming Kin tells the story of two intertwined families and their battles and conflicts over kinship. Laura Marello has written six novels, two novellas, a screenplay, a memoir and a collection of stories. She is the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Grant, a Wallace E. Stegner Fellowship at Stanford University, and a Fine Arts Work Center Provincetown Fellowship. She has enjoyed writer's residencies at MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, Millay Colony, Montalvo Center for the Arts, and the Djerassi Foundation. Laura Marello grew up in New York and Los Angeles, and has lived most of her adult life in Northern California.
