La leucemia linfobl stica aguda (LLA) es la enfermedad que mayor incidencia tiene en ni os en edad preescolar. Dicha enfermedad consiste en la proliferaci n incontrolada de c lulas hematopoy ticas. Es considerada una enfermedad grave, que amenaza la vida del ni o que la padece, aunque actualmente el pron stico es cada vez m s favorable. La gravedad de la enfermedad genera en el ni o y en su familia m ltiples y distintas reacciones emocionales, como incertidumbre, ansiedad, miedo o culpa entre otras. Cada etapa de la enfermedad tiene un impacto diferente en el ni o y familia a nivel psicol gico. Este da o psicol gico, depende tambi n de la edad, la red de apoyo, el conocimiento de la familia sobre la propia enfermedad, o el pron stico de la misma. Es importante conocer la percepci n de cada ni o y familia para ayudarlos en el afrontamiento de la enfermedad, a lo largo de las distintas fases. Las intervenciones de enfermer a ser n distintas en cada una de esas etapas, y vitales para la adaptaci n del ni o y la familia a la nueva situaci n.
