Since Nigeria's independence in 1960, successor leaderships and the private sector manifestly failed to dispense good governance to transform the nation. The public and private sectors, tacitly aided by foreign players, have perverted the ends of government and immolation of the masses.
In Barbarism to Decadence, author Richard Oki offers an evaluation of serial maladministration and massive debaucheries in Nigeria and the vast derivative adverse impact. Through careful research, eyewitness accounts, and his own personal experience, this study presents a comprehensive assessment of vast interrelated factors that led to Nigeria's lack of progress on all fronts and correlative general societal demise since 1960. Indigenous and foreign expropriation and usurpation of Nigeria's natural wealth has marred the nation economically and environmentally while the masses are brutalized and killed. The grim hard facts and figures indicate that Nigeria absolutely needs to be set on the right path and that it is way past time for action to meet the immediate needs of true nation building.
This study provides a detailed exploration of Nigeria's history and current state, describes the problems it is facing, and proposes ways to adjust its course going forward.
