In Part I. The quantity is marked on all syllables except those to which the general rules apply. At the beginning of Part II. Additional ru... les of quantity are given, and the marks are subsequently omitted on many syllables, in orderto afford the pupil exercise upon the rules. In the Syntax and Reading Lessons they are omitted almost entirely. Great pains have been taken to ensure accuracy in the marks of quantity, but we can not hope to have avoided error entirely.
