Author and photographer Jens Fink-Jensen has travelled along Europe?s 10,000 kilometre-long west coast from Skagen ? the northernmost town in Denmark ? to Gibraltar on the south coast of the Iberian Peninsula in order to depict the coast in words and photos.

The West Coast of Europe is a travel story about cultural differ­ences, but which also discovers many similarities. About a shared, coherent coastal country existing across national boundaries, whose inhabitants are connected by the sea.

The photos are accompanied by commentary on the various places? often dramatic and changing natural environment and history, such as a church which is close to falling into the sea, a lighthouse being swallowed by the shifting sands, the ever-present drama of D-Day, the Battle of Trafalgar and the wild monkeys of Gibraltar.

The book includes an introduction to the coast, a general map and an index, which makes it an ideal travelling companion to supplement traditional travel guides.
